Greetings to everyone and hope 2010 is going well!If you’re coming to P.E.I. this summer, or even luckier – live here, than get ready for a great summer. We had a mild winter and a fairly nice spring so we all hope that means a good summer. Already had a couple feeds of fresh lobster, best in the world, and invite everyone to the Garden of the Gulf to enjoy our great food, people, and beauty. I am once again hosting the ceilidhs at Orwell Corner Historic Village for the 2010 summer season and the guest line up can be found by checking out the Orwell website. A great village for the family to visit, old tractors, draft horses, old buildings – you now call heritage stuff. Every Wednesday is ceilidh night in July and August and a guaranteed good time. Bring an instrument. I invite everyone back for a rousing good time and bring the kids. It was wonderful how many families showed up last year and had a great time and that's what we encourage. Wendell would have loved it. The children get up on the stage and participate in the event and we have the big lawn dance at every show. I'm also playing throughout the summer at different venues with musical amigo Fiddlin’ Roy Johnstone - oft times on every other Monday at the Old Triangle Pub in Charlottetown that also features great food. Check their site for details if interested. Every Sunday afternoon Roy hosts a session where tunes are played and all musicians are welcome. I'll be performing July 28 at Orwell with good friend and great singer Kerri Wynne MacLeod - it will be one of her only appearances this summer since one our favourite venues, the Trailside Cafe, is not reopening for music. That’s sad news for all the big fans of the place and the great list of entertainment they would provide. Performing Aug. 16 with good friend and former band mate Margie Carmichael at Cynthia MacLeod's Brackley Point ceilidh. Margie is running a show this summer at the Kings Playhouse in Georgetown and should not be missed. We used to perform with our friend Sigrid Rolfe in a group called Redstone a few years back. Steve and Roy are once again invited back for their 5th appearance at the New Hampshire Highland Games in September and anticipate another tour to the “Boston” states. So welcome to all the friends who return to our great province and to the newbies coming across for the first time. And remember - take the ferry for a truly great experience. Lester might even sing you a song while crossing. I'll try and post more as gigs are confirmed, but welcome everyone and enjoy the music, food and beauty of a Prince Edward Island summer. 2009Steve Sharratt is once again hosting the summer ceilidhs at Orwell Corner Historic Village and welcomes locals and visitors alike to join in the fun. The ceilidhs feature a new performer every week along with stepdancing, an outdoor dance, and a jam session at the end of the show for those who bring their instruments. Steve will perform at a number of venues during the summer of 2009 with musical amigo Fiddlin’ Roy Johnstone. The duo just released their latest recording Longshore Drift. Sound bytes and information on the recording and performance information can be found at Roy’s website. The pair are now performing every Wednesday night, through June, at the Old Triangle Pub in Charlottetown. Orwell ceilidh’s run Wednesday through July and August. Steve will also perform with Roy at the St. Peter’s Courthouse, the Trailside Café, and the Benevolent Irish society as well as a number of private functions throughout the summer. Steve and Kerri Wynne MacLeod perform at the end of August at Cynthia MacLeod’s Brackley Beach ceilidh and join with Roy to perform at the Montague Summer Festival on June 26. Steve and Roy have been invited to perform at the New Hampshire Highland Games in September and will enjoy a short tour at a number of venues. Planning is underway for a potential New England tour in October as well as work on a planned tour of Ontario in the Spring. Thanks for checking things out and hope to see you at one of the shows.
